Mega Diancie Semi-Trick Room
Posted by M1dnight00
Analysis
The foundation of this Semi-Trick Room build centers on the offensive synergy between
and
. Because
naturally struggles to break through bulky Ground-types and specially defensive walls like
,
serves as the ideal partner to capitalize on those forced switches and exert immediate, overwhelming physical pressure. To enable
Ursaluna's exceptionally low Speed tier,
is utilized as the primary Trick Room setter. Its access to Teleport provides the necessary "slow pivoting" to absorb incoming attacks and bring the status-dependent bear onto the field safely so its Flame Orb can activate without taking prior damage.
To support this offensive core, a sturdy defensive backbone is required to withstand early-game pressure and force favorable positioning.
and
fulfill this role, creating a pivoting core that covers the Water, Grass, and Electric weaknesses of the Trick Room components while providing crucial entry hazard setting and removal. Finally, to complete the "Semi-TR" archetype,
is integrated as a fast, standalone win condition that operates entirely outside of Trick Room. This ensures the overall team retains offensive flexibility, access to strong priority via Extreme Speed, and a reliable late-game cleaner in matchups where establishing Trick Room dimensions is unfeasible.
Rain Team

Analysis
The teambuilding process for this squad is rooted in the classic "Double Swift Swim" archetype, starting naturally with the mandatory pairing of Pelipper for Drizzle support and Mega Swampert for unparalleled physical speed and power under the rain. Recognizing that Swampert alone cannot break through every physical wall, Choice Specs Kingdra was added to apply immediate, blindingly fast special pressure, effectively overwhelming the opponent's defensive responses from both sides of the spectrum. To cover the glaring Grass and Electric weaknesses inherent to a Water-heavy lineup, Ferrothorn was slotted in as the primary defensive anchor, while Zapdos was introduced shortly after to provide a Ground immunity, hazard control, and a way to abuse 100% accurate Thunders and Hurricanes. Finally, knowing that hyper-offensive rain teams often hit a brick wall against fat stall builds, Manaphy was selected as the final member to utilize Tail Glow, Waterium Z, and Hydration-Rest to completely dismantle defensive behemoths.
The Way Things Going

Analysis
The idea to build a team with Gastrodon and Spikes started somewhere in week 1 of NDWC. I believe Stareal was facing someone that really liked stuff like Rotom-W VoltTurn, which is why Gastrodon was part of the core idea we picked. You don't really make progress with Gastrodon just by cockblocking Rotom-W, so you really do need something to punish and wear down its teammates, Spikes is one of the best ways to do this.
The original idea for a Spiker was Ferrothorn, but that became really awkward with the rest of the team, not really sure what it was about exactly anymore. Eventually I figured Mew could work despite not having a true Steel-type because specially defensive Mew is fine paired with Volcarona against Tapu Lele. God forbid it's Calm Mind Tapu Lele though.
Clefable is a very logical fit for the next slot. It compresses a Dark resist and Stealth Rock user. It's also just a generally good Pokemon against stuff like Mega Medicham, defensive Landorus-T, Slowbro, etc. and blocks Ferrothorn's Leech Seed to boot.
The matchup against Pokemon like Swords Dance Garchomp, Landorus-T, etc. is still really wacky with these 3 in place. Mega Latias is a good check to those Pokemon and is in general just a very deadly and threatening Pokemon when Spikes are up.
The last 2 Pokemon came together on the team pretty well. I knew I wanted a Pressure Pokemon for Defog, and Zapdos happened to be a great fit. Weavile still looked really annoying, so the fact that SubRoost Zapdos can force it to Triple Axel made Volcarona a very enticing Pokemon to use, especially because it resists Fairy and beats mono Moonblast CM Clefable. SubRoost Zapdos is also not a very truthful check to Mega Scizor and Kartana and Volcarona helps with that. Flame Body is so good for this.

Analysis
After reaching 3rd on the ladder with this balance team in June 2020, I decided to see how good this team was after the Crown Tundra DLC was released. Oh boy did it age like fine wine.
My favourite thing about this team, which I have had for years now, is how easy it is to completely win on matchup. Some battles require effort to lose, because the wall breakers hit so hard. However, most of the time you need to soften up the enemy team with Mega-Medicham + Specs Volcanion, then try to sweep with a combination of banded bullet punch and aqua jet.
You may be looking at this team and thinking "Wow, this looks completely unviable, half these mons are terrible in the current meta!". Hopefully I can change your mind about that by the end of this thread. Also, if you're thinking electric pokemon ruin my team, with the glaring lack of ground type, you're only about 51% correct.
Don't Sleep On Togekiss

Analysis
Z-Yawn? Who has ever used that? Well, I was doing some research and found that Z-Yawn boosts speed by 1 stage and that Togekiss, a mon who needs a little boost in speed to go along with their hax gets that move. So without further ado, here's the team!
